What is Amputee Rehabilitation ?
Amputation is the procedure where a necrotic or severely injured limb is separated from the body of an individual. The process will be followed by the placement of a prosthetic limb. Amputation rehabilitation is the series of physiotherapy exercises and procedures to see to it the prosthetic limb restores the functions of an anatomical limb and works well with the rest of the body. Amputee rehabilitation is done in nine phases starting from pre-operative assessment, surgery, post-surgical procedures, and prosthetic assessment to prosthetic prescription, training, rehabilitation, and follow-up. Different amputee rehabilitation procedures will be followed for different limb rehabilitation based on the patient’s normal functionality.
