What is Arthrogram?

An arthrogram is a diagnostic procedure done specifically for joint pain problems. Hip joint, Shoulder joint, knee joint, elbow joint, pelvic and wrist joint defects can be diagnosed with the help of an arthrogram. With the help of a prior injected dye, the ligaments, tendons and cartilages of these joints can be visualized in the resultant image. There are two types of arthrograms based on the site of injection. Direct and indirect. During direct arthrogram, the contrast dye will be injected directly into the joint space and during and indirect arthrogram; it will be injected into a nearby vein. A fluoroscopy or an x-ray is also performed as a part of the procedure.

CT scan

CT scan or Computed Tomography is a diagnostic procedure that provides real-time imaging. It uses a combination of X-ray and computer technology to provide high-resolution images. It generates a ‘slice’ or cut of a three-dimensional image in a two-dimensional pattern.

MRI

MRI or Magnetic Resonance Imaging is a non-invasive diagnostic procedure that does not involve radiation. It is used to diagnose conditions like pathologies, injuries, organ abnormalities, vascular abnormalities, systemic defects and more. It is a full-body scan that creates and uses a strong magnetic field.

PET scan

PET scan or Positron Emission Tomography is a diagnostic imaging technique used to detect a disease with the use of small amounts of biologically active compounds. A tracer is introduced into the body and its actions visualized. It is used to diagnose diseases of the heart, lung, brain, gastrointestinal tract and more.
