What is it?

A hernia is the condition that occurs when fatty tissue or an organ part squeezes through the surrounding muscle or connective tissue. The condition usually occurs due to abnormal posture,
heavy load carrying and/or pressure trauma. There are different types of hernia based on the area it effects; umbilical hernia (involving belly button), histology hernia (involving stomach), inguinal and femoral hernia (involve groin and its surrounding structures), incisional hernia (caused due to an incision) and lower back hernia. Hernia, when not treated can lead to obstruction of the part, obstruction of intestines and bowel movements, strangulation of the intestine resulting in blood flow loss and necrosis.
