What is PICU and NICU for Infants?
PICU is the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and NICU is the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. PICU is for critically ill pediatric patients (children under the age of 21) suffering from severe medical conditions whereas NICU is for neonates or newborns suffering from critical medical conditions. Both these units are specialized rooms or wards in a hospital which are equipped with intensive care equipment needed for the children. There are levels of intensive care your baby may require based on the condition they
are suffering with. The babies may be put on certain equipment to help with their condition. Regular visiting hours and care rooms for the parents are also provided within these units.
