hos3

What is it?

It one of the most common conditions seen in both children and adults where the two oval shaped pads at the back of the throat, called tonsils, get inflamed due to certain allergens, infections and/or throat deformities, resulting in recurring sore throat, persistent cough, voice changes and/or fever. It is of two types – acute and chronic, and of many subtypes depending on the effected portion of the tonsils. The symptoms may usually subside on their own but recurrence is common which has to be treated with medication and in severe cases, surgical removal of tonsils.
